A practical sequence
- Inspect fibre, construction and condition
- Record stains, damage and expectations
- Remove loose dry soil
- Choose and test suitable chemistry
- Agitate or dwell where appropriate
- Extract or recover loosened soil
- Treat remaining spots within limits
- Groom, ventilate and explain drying
Why dry soil removal matters
Much tracked-in soil is particulate. Removing loose material first helps avoid turning avoidable dry soil into slurry during wet cleaning.
Method follows assessment
No single process is automatically best for every carpet, rug or piece of furniture.
