The popular term often describes hot-water extraction: heated solution is delivered into the carpet and recovered with loosened soil. Equipment, temperature, solution, dwell time and extraction should suit the carpet.
Drying matters
Ventilation, air movement, humidity, fibre and residual moisture all affect drying. Avoid replacing items or placing metal feet on damp carpet without protection.
